FAQ’s

  • The central government calculates the 75% of the consumer price index for urban non-manual employee of immediately preceding year to such previous year of which central government notifying CII.
  • The CII is used to the indexation of the cost* under the capital gain head for the purpose of long-term capital gain (LTCG).

*cost = Cost of acquisition and Cost of Improvement.

         

  • Example is:

The Cost of property at the time of purchase was ₹ 40000 on 20.11.2011 and the cost of the improvement was ₹ 10000 in the year 30.03.2015. The asset was sold on 02.03.2019. So, calculate index cost of acquisition and index cost of improvement?
